Lived is a mobile app that supports people to drink less and live more, by connecting them with people who have been there and figured out what works.
Lived provides a safe and non-judgmental space for people to connect with others who have faced similar challenges with alcohol and found effective ways to overcome them. Through Lived, people can tap into the wisdom, experience, and advice of real people who have been in their shoes, empowering them to make the changes they desire.
Defining the design language for Lived was challenging, given the sensitive nature of the app. The design had to be calming and straightforward to create a safe and comfortable space for people to share their progress. At the same time, it needed to convey boldness and transparency, which are central to Lived's purpose. Balancing these elements requires a thoughtful and nuanced approach that considers the app's unique features and people's needs.
The app offers a range of interactive content, such as daily check-ins, which provide a simple yet effective way for users to stay engaged and on track with their goals. Moreover, the app’s ‘Moments’ feature is designed to help users when they find themselves in specific situations that could trigger their desire to drink.
Designing these features required a thoughtful and careful approach, as we wanted to ensure that people feel safe when sharing how they currently feel. Additionally, we aimed for people to provide minimal but valuable input so that the app can provide tailored advice and strategies to help them stay focused on their goals.
“Our main goal when designing Lived app was making sure we approach people the right way through user flows - to be straightforward and yet not too direct - and communicate a safe space through the design language.“
The aim was for the app to serve as a constant source of support. Customizable reminders as part of the experience are there to assist people in staying on track and achieving their goals. It was crucial to thoughtfully incorporate the option to set a reminder in the user flows, without it seeming intrusive or repetitive, and encourage people to use this to their best advantage.
